I thought daily sounded average.... Weekly rotating dear god please no.
Have been excited about the format up until this point.

3-4 days per rotation should be ok.
and for each SD, each profession should have only about 1/3 of their skills usable, which will be randomized every time. we should still be able to pick teams.
this shouldnt be too hard to automate, then the devs let the system go running by itself and watch the fun begin.

I agree, furthermore, weekly rotations are bad because unless you can play on the day of the rotation you will not be likely get to actually try your skill at build making but largely just be left playing whatever people found out is best. (or lose trying something else).
But apparently Anet are of a different opinion than the entire pvp community.
Hopefully a topic like this will make people realize that rawr or anyone else for that matter really have a very minor (if any) influence on the balance of the game.
Compared to the balance of the skills, this is the something I (and most of rawr) actually care much, much more about.
Most other people I talk to and you guys here agree as well, yet Anet is standing tough on their 'on deck per week' approach even though no one wants it that way.
So 2 steps forward with sealed deck, 3 steps backwards for taking out TA and HB for nothing more than a weekly TA meta shift.
The whole point of sealed play is that there should be no metagame, you have a list of skills, and you try to create the best possible build, thats it.
When you have the majority playing the same kind of build and you can 'try to counter it'; read meta-gaming, the format is no longer sealed deck, it is 'limited deck'.

You're probably not allowed to tell me this but...
Is the one week rotation confirmed or are you just assuming?

AFAIK, Linsey mentioned it on the official wiki.

Someone should make Linsey read this before it is too late.

At least make the rotation daily.

If the rotation is weekly, it'll only be fun to play until people find the best builds. i.e. the first day the deck is out.
Also, it isn't any harder to make decks daily compared to making them weekly is it? Its not like someone from anet will have to hand-pick a deck each day, it should all be automated. Basically if anet implements weekly decks, SD will be a massive failure and they might as well not bother with it.

I'm kinda amazed that they haven't thought of this (to our current knowledge). They must really have low expectations if they think it will take more than a week to come up with a good build to lame with.

uploading daily updates might have some costs? (maybe)
anyway, a week of a couple "popular" builds at a time is better than months and years of them never changing.
i think it will be okay for "temporary mini-metas" to sink in for a few days before the deck gets reshuffled.

I'm sure the backend stuff isn't complicated, but Linsey's explicit words were "they were changing the rules to be PUG-friendly." And lord knows PuGs need metagames, "glf Rtl" "glf LC+VoR" etc. So no, you aren't going to see as much creativity and you might not even want to call it SD anymore. But you won't have to sit through rampage hexway, shove, necbalanced, and every other stupid build in the stale TA meta either.
They're going to need either wildcards or a fairly large pool to make even this work, but it's possible, in theory. It's just not what people play SD for though.

Only there aren't really any pugs in a 4v4 format. You're always going to play with friends. If you want to pug please go do spiritway but don't RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO it up for 90% of the sealed deck players.
Seriously that's screwing over 90% of the player population to please 10%. Learn to math.

Are you sure that it's going to be 4v4?
Are you sure that you can actually form a team?
We all know that the reply would be better be yes to both the question, but the fact is that until they release anything nothing can be said.
Maybe it will be a costume brawl with builds changing every week, who knows.

Daily deck changes will keep things fresh (At least). A weekly shift is bad for this format. It would become stale, and uninteresting.

To the first part: seeing as both formats it replaces are 4v4 (technically), yes I would say there is a 99% chance it iwll be 4v4.
And the second part: I am simply assuming you can form teams because I chose to believe Anet is based in this reality and is not developing the game on Mars. (even though this point can be debated).
Did I mention how boring weekly rotation will be after the first day?

From what I heard at the PAX Dev party it will be 4v4 with player formed teams, mirrored decks, and weekly deck changes. Linsey seems to monitor things very closely, so I imagine that if weekly decks didn't work well in the aggregate (that is for the majority of the players in the format and not just the upper echelon) then she could have the decks change more frequently.

the problem with one week rotation is it will be boring as hell (no actually hell is quite fun), to play with the same gimped build for one whole week.
imho the fun would come from a feeling of novelty and freshness every time you play the format (as well as laughing at bad opponents on vent), and that's simply not going to be achieved with weekly rotations.

So I guess I'm going to end up playing on the first day of the week, then wait till the next week. Can't they just make it an automatic program to switch it up every day? Theres even a website that can do it, I'm sure it's not impossible.
